The University of Calabar Teaching Hospital is proud to join the global Community in observing the 2024 World Breast Cancer Awareness Month as part of the Nationwide 'Go Pink Day' on 5th October, 2024.

This annual campaign aims to educate and sensitize the public about breast cancer, it's risks, detection and treatment options. The Chief Medical Director, who was represented by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee Dr Michael Eyong, said the hospital is committed to combatting breast cancer through awareness, education and quality healthcare. He encouraged all hands to be on deck by spreading the message of hope and supporting those who are affected.

To mark the day as directed by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare in conjunction with Breast Without Spot, the hospital embarked on sensitization to strategic points and visit to breast Cancer patients at the Female Surgical Ward to offer hope and emotional support. In addition, the hospital is partnering with the Pink Africa Foundation to provide discounted rates for breast ultrasound and mammography for patients that will be referred to the hospital throughout the month of October.
